Tribute to a genius
Tradition-rich whirlwind
As fascinating as it is to see a tourbillon carriage rotate, its true purpose was to improve accuracy. The “whirlwind” opposes the force of gravity continuously; the entire oscillation and escapement system rotates on its own axis within the space of a minute.

A masterful achievement in watchmaking
Thanks to its cantilevered mounting, the tourbillon’s rotating carriage is relieved of pressure and can be executed in a very delicate form – it weighs less than half a gram. At once a masterpiece of watchmaking and a visual delight, it remains today one of the most challenging of complications.

Icon of refined watch construction
The Glashütte master watchmaker Alfred Helwig is still known today for his craft skills and his creativity. His ingenious invention from 1920, the Flying Tourbillon, is a symbol of his unrelenting efforts in pursuit of precision.
