This new Senator Chronograph is housed in a 41 mm diameter stainless steel case, which is characterised by its particularly slim profile and lends it the understated elegance of a dress watch. This handcrafted timepiece is available with a strap in Louisiana alligator leather, synthetic material or stainless steel with a fine-adjustment mechanism. The exquisitely finished in-house movement can be admired without any obstruction through the sapphire crystal caseback.

The design of this automatic chronograph is reminiscent of the observation watches manufactured in Glashütte in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These were robust, high-precision pocket watches that were used primarily in maritime navigation. Building on this tradition, this timepiece successfully combines the key chronograph functions in a comfortably sized watch: central stop-seconds, 30-minute counter, flyback mechanism, small seconds and Glashütte Original’s distinctive Panorama Date.

The galvanic silver dial, crafted in Glashütte Original’s own dial manufactory, features an intricately embossed surface. Solid gold Roman numeral appliques with a blue coating and blued hands stand out against this background. The 30-minute counter and the small seconds hand are displayed on sub-dials with a delicate vinyl-record type motif, facing each other in exquisite symmetry and clarity. The flange features a printed tachymeter scale in glossy black, whilst the Panorama Date at 6 o’clock is accentuated by a shimmering white gold frame.

Inside this robust chronograph ticks the automatic calibre 37-24 with a column-wheel mechanism. The flyback function ensures that the chronograph can be stopped, reset and restarted with a single press – a convenient and smooth process that makes timing a pleasure. The calibre beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a running time of 70 hours. The balance spring is made of silicon and is resistant to magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations.
