Museum
Everyone can experience the exciting history of the Saxon art of watchmaking at first hand: The German Watch Museum Glashütte, located right in the centre of town in the building that once housed the historic watchmaking school, is dedicated to its legacy.
Under the motto “The Fascination of Time – Bringing Time to Life”, the museum not only highlights the development of the Glashütte watch but allows emotion to play a role in its approach to the subject of time in general.
Over some 1,000 square metres of exhibition space the museum presents the history of the local watchmaking and precision mechanics industries from their beginnings in the 19th century to the present day. The history of the Glashütte watch is illustrated in chronological order and opened up to the senses through a multimedia approach – an interactive experience for the whole family.
